Accessibility
Built for everyone.
We believe everyone deserves equal access to find their lakefront property. Lakefront Finder is designed and built with accessibility at its core.
Our Commitment
Lakefront Finder is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Accessibility Features
Key accessibility features built into our platform.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Use Tab to navigate, Enter or Space to activate, and Escape to dismiss overlays.
Visual Accessibility
Sufficient color contrast ratios throughout the interface, resizable text, and no reliance on color alone to convey information.
Screen Reader Support
Semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels ensure compatibility with assistive technologies like VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS.
Focus Management
Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements, logical tab order, and focus trapping in modal dialogs.
Alternative Text
Meaningful alt text on all property images and informative graphics. Decorative images are properly hidden from assistive technology.
Responsive Design
Content reflows without loss of information at up to 400% zoom. Touch targets meet minimum size requirements on mobile devices.
Standards & Practices
Our development practices include the following accessibility standards:
- Semantic HTML5 elements for document structure.
- ARIA roles and properties where native HTML semantics are insufficient.
- Color contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Form inputs with associated labels, error messages, and clear instructions.
- Skip navigation links to bypass repetitive content.
- Consistent, predictable navigation across all pages.
- Properly structured headings in logical order.
- No content that flashes more than three times per second.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:
- User-uploaded images: property photos uploaded by sellers may not always include descriptive alt text. We encourage sellers to provide descriptions for all images.
- Map features: interactive map components may have limited screen reader support. All information displayed on maps is also available in text-lgd listings.
- Third-party content: embedded content from third-party services may not meet our accessibility standards.
We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across the platform.
